Refreshing Your Thirsty Soul

Several years ago I participated in a charity bike ride to help raise money for victims of abuse. It was an early August morning, and the temperature quickly soared into the 90’s. Along the 45 mile route there were two rest stops set up to serve ice cold water, Gatorade and other snacks and treats to parched and weary riders. I was very grateful for the volunteers who worked these aid stations to provide needed refreshment for the hot and exhausted participants. How much more do you think God is ready to refresh your thirsty soul today? Hear these words from Jeremiah 31:25, “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” Life can sometimes feel like this hot late summer day, any effort expended might drain and dehydrate your soul. Take some time today to pause; pull off the interstate of life and spend some time in the rest area of God’s refreshing presence. Life is a long journey with hills, valleys, detours and road construction; so go ahead and linger for awhile, and may you be revived and reinvigorated for the race.

Psalm 103:2-5

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
